Care and Feeding of Rechargeable Batteries:
The care and feeding of your Ni-Cad (Nichol-Cadmium) handheld radio batteries is often miss-understood and has also been complicated with the introduction of new technologies as used in Ni-MH and Li-Ion batteries. Ni-Cad batteries, no matter if from Motorola, Kenwood,
TEKK or others, need very similar care and attention almost daily.
The main requirement for good performance and long life is for the battery to be fully "used up" each time before recharging. If recharged this way you can expect up to about 1000 recharges from the battery pack. If you use your radio lightly each day, but recharge every night, your battery will "learn" to recharge only up to about half of it's possible capability. Some call this phenomena "battery memory".
The battery does not really have a "memory" of course, it is just a simple chemical reaction in the battery that starts to reduce the amount of charge it will accept. To solve this, you can generally run the battery fully down followed by a full recharge in "slow" mode (repeated a couple of times) to "erase" battery memory and restore full charge capability.
On the other hand, Li-Ion (pronounce it "Lion") batteries do not have this recharge problem and can be used with more freedom and less concern about daily usage.
That is one of the main reasons that
TEKK started using Li-Ion batteries on our new models. In addition, Li-Ion batteries are much smaller and lighter than Ni-Cad or Ni-MH batteries and this allows us to make the radio much smaller, lighter and easier to use. If you compare the size and weight of our XT Series portables to similar Motorola or Kenwood units that use the older technologies you will immediately see the size and weight advantage.
How
far is the communication distance for transceiver?
How far is the communication distance for transceiver? That’s a
question often asked by most of users. Take the 5W professional
transceiver for example, on the market, many people say it can
transmit for 5KM,some one say it’s 10KM,even 15KM.As a user, how to
comprehend this question?
Communication distance is relative to using environment
For example, in an ideal and open environment, experimental testing
distance of 10 km can be achieved by 5W professional transceiver,
but each user's environment is different, somewhere with dozens of
buildings, or across several Building blocks, high mountains or
curves ,that will reduce the penetration capability and may only
call for 4 km or 2 km or even more shorter distance.
This can only rely on the test before purchasing, or rely on the
dealers with real field test experience and a wide range of
environmental cases to recommended suitable models.
Factors affecting communication distance
1、In principle the higher the
transmitting power, the further the emission signal ,the stronger the
penetration , and the greatest power of transceiver does not exceed
5W.
2、The higher the receiver sensitivity, the further the distance.
3、The longer the length of the antenna, the stronger the ability to
transmit and receive
4、Half-way communications with metal, electromagnetic interference,
coagulation disabilities, call the horizontal even weather
conditions, will be affected to varying communication distance and
quality.
5、Transceiver’s organic changes, such as the aging of components,
batteries inadequate, antenna impedance do not matching, will effect
the distance.
With Repeater
Many users said that the 5w transceiver do not far enough, because it
may in a negative three-storey basement, or in a large management
area. Is there more powerful handheld transceiver?
The proposed increase Repeater to solve the problem. Repeater is
automatically receive signals then transmitted and amplified it.
That is conducive to expanding and enhancing communication radius of
penetration. Handheld transceiver’s communication distance can up to
10-20 km, or even 30 to 40 km. With the Repeater, the purchase
standards of transceiver can be depressed.

Training

We can help you train your employees on the use and care of 2-way radios, even if your system is a mix of Motorola, Kenwood or other products in addition to Tekk.
Warranty

Warranty features can be a very important feature related to the value of new radios, but response time is also critical. Tekk response time is faster than most of our competitors. If you add Tekk units to your Motorola or other system we think you will be very surprised at the savings . . .
